The Sparks program runs for eight weeks. In case we cancel more than two practices and/or games, we will make them up by adding time at the end of the season.
Our Sparks fields are located at 7003 28th Avenue, Hudsonville, MI 49426. This year our Sparks fields will be at the south end of our soccer complex. We have moved the Sparks fields from behind Jenison Christian Church for this fall season.
The Michigan Fire Juniors announces the Michigan Sparks Player Academy program. This is a recreational soccer program with an emphasis on player and skills development. There will be skills and techniques taught that will enable your young player to go on to play soccer at whatever level their ability will take them. No tryouts are necessary…
The program runs for the duration of 16 weeks, 8 weeks in the fall and 8 weeks in the spring. Players train one hour, two times a week and play games on Saturday. Games consist of 5 or 6 players on each team. This ensures that all players get maximum contact with the ball. Competition is always friendly and scores and statistics are not documented.
Saturday games allow players to incorporate the skills and techniques learned during practice. Games consist of 4 or 5 players on each team. This ensures that all players get maximum contact with the ball. Competition is always friendly and scores and statistics are not documented.
Players must wear the appropriate equipment for practice and games:
• soccer shoes
• soccer socks
• soccer shorts
• Fire Juniors jersey
Sweat pants and long-sleeved shirt are appropriate for colder weather but restrictive clothing should not be worn. The Michigan Sparks will provide a uniform for each player. Players must bring a soccer ball and water.
Practice sessions are designed to be developmentally appropriate to the age group. The children will take part in practices that incorporate fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping, hopping, stretching, twisting, throwing and catching. More importantly, the players will learn to apply these skills with the soccer ball. Groups will consist of 8 to 12 players to ensure all players get the attention they deserve. The number of players within the group may increase as the player’s age and develop.
Our Sparks program is directed by Joe Brefczynski along with a capable staff. Coach Joe can be reached via email with this link.
